You paid a recipient at least $600 throughout the year if you paid them for services rendered in the course of your trade or company, paid someone other than an employee, paid an estate or, in some situations, a corporation, and paid for services rendered to a partnership or individual.
For each person to whom you paid certain amounts for rent, medical expenditures, prizes and awards, legal services, and other things, your firm might also be required to file a Form 1099-MISC.
